Kaohsiung County is located in southern Taiwan and covers an area of 2,792 square kilometers , with a population of more than 1,230,000.
It's administration district is divided into one city, three towns, 23 hsiangs, and 446 villages. According to the geographical location, it can also be divided into Feng-Shan area, Kang-Shan area, and Chi-Shan area. Because Feng-Shan and Kang-Shan Towns are in the neighborhood of Kaohsiung City, industry and business are developed rapidly, and population is growing which make the structure of agricultural society have obviously changed.
Because Chi-Shan Town is close to the mountain area, people still engage in agriculture, forestry, and husbandry. In order to balance local economic development, Kaohsiung County government is dedicated to develop natural resources and scenery, combining with the transportation constructions, developing fishing harbor and tourist industry. It has achieved a great success and some scenic spots have become famous all over the island. In the future, the government's goals, according to administrative policy, will focus on continuing to develop existing industry and business, accelerating the prosperity of the agricultural economy. All these need the cooperation and support of local people. |
